Apparently Danny Boyle wants to do a film about Joy Division. If he does one, it should be interesting, especially to those who felt short-changed by the relatively little time given to JD by 24 Hour Party People (which, nonetheless, was a good film). And Danny Boyle knows how to use the visual medium well without being gratuitous or heavy-handed.
I wonder if the film in question would be the adaptation of Touching From A Distance that has been mooted, or something else. And isn't Boyle working on a Trainspotting sequel/adaptation of Porno?
Well, 24hrPtyPpl was never intended solely about Joy Division per se... that people criticised it on that basis kind of annoyed me. Same goes for people criticising the lack of coverage on the smaller bands.
Touching from a Distance, being his wife's perspective is not particularly kind to Ian (with some justification in her case). Nor does it have all that much about the music or the other bandmembers in there. I can't imagine this making for a very interesting film. It wouldn't really be a film about Joy Division, more about a marriage breakup.
