Does anybody here have a mobile phone that accepts polyphonic MIDI ringtones? If so, how easy is it to upload your own MIDI files to the phone? Can you put them on a web server and fetch them, or transfer them using SyncML/Bluetooth/infrared, or is some sort of DRM check-in application required?

I tried e-mailing MIDI files to myself and retrieving them via WAP, but then discovered I can't open attachments on my WAP service. Then I discovered that Optus (my service provider) offers Web-to-MMS messaging - so I sent an MMS containing a MIDI file from my browser and retrieved it on my phone - worked fine.

I did discover that there's a size limit - the initial file I tried was about 35Kb and it wouldn't open. Then I found a 9Kb version of 'Bizarre Love Triange' - which worked fine. It cost me 75c to send the MMS but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the commercial services.

BTW, I have a Nokia 3200.

The 3200 is one of the models I'm looking at. Either that or the 7250i (which has slightly older firmware, possibly slightly more features, and 4Mb of memory).

How many Java apps do you use on your 3200? Do you find its 1Mb of memory limiting?
